Attorney Briefing/Drafting & Research Services

Maybe you’re one of those attorneys who doesn’t like to write. Or you just don’t have the time. Whatever the reason, we’re here to help. Whether you are seeking co-counsel (Geoffrey is currently licensed in Arkansas state and federal courts, Missouri state court, and the Eastern District of Missouri), need a ghostwriter, or wish to make a referral on appeal, our firm is happy to discuss your matter.

Geoffrey has clerked for two federal judges, has worked at the Arkansas Court of Appeals, and served as a Research & Writing Specialist in a Federal Public Defender office. He was also assigned to the Legal Issues Group for an AmLaw 100 law firm, drafting motions and briefs on a variety of issues across multiple jurisdictions (both state and federal).

Let him apply that experience to your matter. Our services include:

Appeals
Sometimes the final order is just the beginning. And whether you are preserving a win as appellee or trying to reverse an adverse ruling as the appellant, we are available to assist you in appellate matters in both state and federal court.

We will pay attention to not only the substantive law governing your matter, but also the relevant procedural rules and deadlines. We will do our best to help you find the right issues, present them in the most persuasive manner possible, and get your brief filed timely and properly.

Legal Research
Whether you’re preparing the complaint in a new or unfamiliar area of law, dealing with a novel factual issue during the course of the case, or just want some research or a second set of eyes on something, we draft both memos to get you up to speed and keep you informed. We can also draft your pleadings, keeping in mind your strategy, goals, and the governing legal standards.

Motion Practice
Effective motions help focus the case, reduce your risk of an adverse outcome, keep the other side on their toes, and increase your credibility with the court. Maybe an issue in discovery leads you to think an issue is ripe for a Motion for Summary Judgment but you do not have the time to draft it. Or you’re facing a Motion to Dismiss and don’t quite know how to get your arms around it. Perhaps the trial is over and you need to get post-trial motions filed quickly.

When the work needs to get done but you’re not in a position to do it, let us help you keep your case moving forward by drafting your motions, briefs, responses, and replies.

Flexible Fee Structures
Some firms insist on doing appellate, research, and drafting work on a specific fee basis. We are not such a firm. Depending on the case, the work we are engaged to do, and what works for your firm and ours, flat fees, hourly arrangements, and contingency fees are all possibilities.
